The base curve of your eyewear refers to the curvature of the lenses, which defines how much the frame wraps around your face – that is, how much the frame curves. The higher the base curve, the more the frame will curve.

Wiley X operates, predominantly, with base curve 8 and base curve 6.

Base Curve 8

Sunglasses with a base curve 8 come with lenses that have a large curvature, which gives the frame a high wrap fit. This means that the sunglasses will enclose your face to a greater extent and, at the same time, give a snug fit. Due to the high wrap design and the enclosed and snug fit, you are ensured a better protection against light in your peripheral field of view.  

As such, a pair of sunglasses with a base curve 8 will ensure you an active leisure look, which can keep your view clear and unbothered. The curved lenses and the high wrap fit ensure that functionality is in focus. Additionally, the high wrap fit will protect you against UV-rays from all angles while it, at the same time, protects your vision against water, wind, and dust, to a greater extent. Base Curve 6

Sunglasses with a base curve 6 have lenses that are less curved than a pair of base curve 8 sunglasses, which gives them a medium wrap fit. This means that the sunglasses will not enclose your face in the same way, but rather sit flatter against your face.
If you need a pair of sunglasses with high prescription, a pair of base curve 6 sunglasses are especially good, as the flatter base curve is better at containing the high prescription.

Sunglasses with a base curve 6 will not block the sun in your peripheral field of view to as great an extent, as a pair of sunglasses with a base curve 8. However, the base curve 6 has a fit, which fits most head sizes and will, as such, be perfect on most faces.
